Stone County Sheriff Lance Bonds won the Democratic nomination for that office over two challengers, and Angie Hudspeth-Wade won the nomination for Stone County and Circuit Clerk in last Tuesday’s preferential primary election. Turner Jury Deadlocked

A second Stone County jury was unable to reach a verdict in the retrial of Lewis Wayne Turner and Rickey Turner last week in circuit court. Dodd Mountain Truck Wreck

An 18-wheeler owned by the McLane Company overturned near the top of Dodd Mountain May 2. The truck was northbound hauling frozen food for a company supplying the chain that includes Pizza Hut and Taco Bell. The driver apparently lost control of the truck on the first curve coming down the mountain, and it rolled over, coming to rest on its top in the trees just above Herst Road. McCoy Dies In Wreck

A motorcycle accident April 12 claimed the life of a Big Flat area resident, 32-year-old Justin A. McCoy.
