Wallace Pleads Guilty

Fifty Six Mayor Barbara Wallace pleaded guilty to theft of services, a class A misdemeanor, and abuse of office, a class B misdemeanor, recently in circuit court. She was sentenced to 12 months suspended imposition of sentence, was fined $500 and charged $170 in court costs and fees. Stone County employees will receive a raise thanks to a vote by the quorum court Jan. 16. Budget Committee Chairman Stan Townsend presented a proposal for a schedule of raises with an average 3 percent increase.
