Months of undercover investigative work by law enforcement officials resulted in a large roundup and filing of charges against 22 suspected drug offenders in Stone County the first week of November.
In a combined effort Stone County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigator Dammon McGilton and Mountain View Criminal Investigator B.J. Day began working last March on an investigation named “Operation Ice Pick,” so named because methamphetamine is also known as “ice.”
Investigators targeted a group of suspected crystal methamphetamine dealers throughout Stone County. On Nov. 5 at daybreak, officers broke into teams and began simultaneously serving warrants and arresting accused methamphetamine dealers. Stone County Sheriff’s Deputies, Mountain View Police, Arkansas State Police, 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force, Izard County Sheriff’s Department, Mountain Home Police Department, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and Arkansas Parole and Probation executed several arrest warrants, a search warrant, and several parole and probation home visits throughout Stone County.
A list of those arrested appears in the Nov. 13 issue of the Stone County Leader.
