Power Outage Explained
A widespread power outage that began early morning Jan. 18 coincided with the season's first appreciable snowfall, with some residents measuring nearly two inches and others receiving only a dusting. Cold temperatures along with the weather front affected power lines that were strung in a temporary configuration at a construction site north of Calico Rock. The lines constricted more than anticipated and came in contact with a crossarm, causing the outage.
