Arkansas Craft School Has Interim Director

Posted

The Arkansas Craft School is emerging for spring with a new director and office location.

Phyllis Haynes will serve as interim director while the board of directors conducts a search for a permanent executive director. Haynes has a background in nonprofit management, having served the last 14 years of her career as CEO of the Arkansas Foodbank based in Little Rock. She and her husband, Bud Thurman, have just made Mountain View their permanent home after spending the past 14 years as “part-timers.”

The Arkansas Craft School offices have relocated to Peabody Avenue on the courtsquare, upstairs from the Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center and sharing access with the Chamber’s executive offices. In addition, the website (arkansascraftschool.org) has been redesigned.

The ASC is kicking off the year with a series of classes in wood turning, photography and cloth basket making, followed in later months by papermaking, blacksmithing, glass bead making, and many other crafts.
