Candidates are responsible for making contact with the party of their choice, obtaining forms, and paying filing fees to the party. The forms must then be returned to the county clerk’s office by noon on March 1.
Likewise, candidates running as independents (without party affiliation) must also file with the clerk by March 1.
The full story in the Feb. 16 issue includes information about who to contact and how to file.

The only board position open this year is Zone 6, which is currently held by Lori Dobbins.
Anyone interested in running for this position may pick up paperwork at the Stone County Clerk’s Office, located inside the courthouse downtown. This includes a petition that must be signed by Zone 6 residents. The documents may be picked up at any time and must be returned to the clerk’s office and filed between noon on Feb. 22 and noon on March 1.
The election will be held in conjunction with Preferential Primaries on May 24.
The school has not officially placed any other measures on the ballot, but the millage always appears, whether or not there is a change proposed.
