Mark Moller Joins Studio Tour

While he has no formal training in painting, Mark Moller has been an artist since childhood.

“I was blending colors with the crayons and doing all kinds of things,” he recalled. “I’ve been painting, drawing, coloring for as long as I can remember.”

Mark’s colorful paintings of wildlife, landscapes, and portraits will be featured for the first time on this year’s Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour.

Mark has lived in Stone County for only about a year but has found a home among the local art community.

He had been visiting Arkansas off and on since the 60s and actually lived in Stone County with a group of friends in the late 70s.

While he has traveled and lived in many locations since, he knew he wanted to return here for his retirement.

“I got a feel for the area in the 70s, with the arts and music. ... From all my traveling around, I thought the folks down here were probably the nicest people I’ve met.”

He began checking out what Mountain View had to offer and discovered the wealth of art and craft resources, including the Art Guild, Arkansas Craft School, and Off the Beaten path Studio Tour.

Mark has sold paintings through various outlets over the years, including galleries, exhibits, and art fairs.

During his months at his new home on Cow Mountain Road, Mark has converted a shed on his property into a painting studio and gallery, joined the Mountain View Art Guild, and began volunteering at the guild’s cabin at the Ozark Folk Center, where some of his work is displayed.
