Mountain View Cruises to 43-0 Win

Posted

Mountain View extended its winning streak to five games and remained unbeaten in conference play with a 43-0 win over the Green Forest Tigers Friday night at Homecoming.

The Yellowjackets used a strong rushing attack to score on every offensive possession but one in the first half. It started when the Yellowjackets won the coin toss, elected to receive and proceeded on an 8-play, 67 yard drive to take an early lead. Sophomore Derek Burns finished the drive with a 14-yard touchdown run as he tip-toed down the sideline into the end zone. Senior quarterback Buddy Craig kept it on a designed quarterback run to complete the two-point conversion and the ’Jackets led 8-0 with 8:18 to go in the first quarter.

After the Mountain View defense forced Green Forest to a quick punt, the offense easily navigated a 10-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that was capped off by a 3-yard touchdown run from senior Chris Konkler. Craig’s pass to senior Ryan Sullivan on the two-point conversion was good and the ’Jackets led 16-0 with 2:33 to go in the first quarter.
