Mountain View School Board made several administrative changes last week, as well as passing a resolution officially calling for an election May 11 on the millage issue.
Dusty Mitchell, who is currently K-12 principal at Timbo, will transfer to the position of Mountain View assistant principal and will be replaced at Timbo by Rural Special High School Principal Junior Barham.
Shelia Mitchell, who is currently RS Elementary principal, will take over K-12 duties for that campus.
Supt. Brent Howard said the cost-saving move of eliminating one principal position at Rural Special makes sense, as Timbo has already had a K-12 principal for several years and is roughly the same size as Rural Special.
The board also voted unanimously to add one year to the contracts of Howard and Assistant Supt. Mark Rush. This extends their contracts through June 30, 2023.
Michael McBryde of Stephens Inc. met with the board during its Zoom meeting Jan. 4 and presented a resolution setting the regular school election for May 11, with the request for a millage increase on the ballot.
