The first public school millage increase proposal in 36 years is the key issue on a ballot now being prepared for a May 18 election in the Mountain View School District.
Stone County election commissioners approved the ballot that will also include two uncontested races for the Mountain View school board. Lisa Rachelle Stewart is the unopposed candidate for the Zone 1 position. She replaces Eric Perry. Michael “Tiger” Stewart is unchallenged for re-election in Zone 4.
The proposed rate of 39.91 mills represents a 7-mill increase.
