Senior Citizens Banquet

Posted

On Thursday, Nov. 21, Rural Special School hosted its annual Senior Citizen’s Banquet in the cafeteria.

The school is honored to host this event every year and show its appreciation to the community for their continued support. Around 100 attended the banquet this year, which was a good turnout for a foggy morning.

Joan Thomson’s Family & Consumer Science (FACS) classes cooked and prepared all week, the kitchen crew came early and helped cook, and all the teachers brought side dishes for the banquet. Rural Special PTO and Elementary purchased door prizes. Rural Special BETA and FACS classes helped serve drinks and desserts, as well as set up and clean up.

Dave Smith and his Music Roots students, Britt Currie, Carla Barnett, Scotty Branscum, Shane Barnett, Echo Mitchell, Darrell Barnett, Benny Kocher and Kathy Kocher provided some entertainment during the meal.

Rural Special School appreciates everyone who attended, including Supt. Brent Howard and Asst. Supt. Mark Rush, County Judge Stacey Avey, Gerald Cooper, and the Stone County Honor Guard.
