Two Girls Teams To Compete At Regionals

Two county girls teams are advancing to regional basketball tournaments this week after being among top finishers in district tournaments.

Mountain View Lady Yellowjackets were runners-up in the 3A District 2 tournament championship at Riverview and the Lady Rebels finished third in the 1A District 2 tournament at Shirley.  Regional tournament brackets for all classifications are available online here: Regional Brackets.

Mountain View will compete in the 3A Region 2 Tournament at Rose Bud this week, while Rural Special will be in the 1A Region 2 Tournament at HIllcrest.

Mountain View plays Corning, the third place team in District 3 on Thursday at 4 p.m. Winner advances to the region semi-final Friday at 4 p.m., with the championship game set for Saturday at 6 p.m.  NOTICE: schedule altered by weather conditions.

Other matchups in 3A Region 2 are District 3 winner Manila vs. Pangburn, District 2 winner Clinton vs. Osceola, and Hoxie vs. Harding Academy.

Boys teams advancing to the 3A Region 2 Tournament are Riverview, Cave City, Rose Bud and Newport from District 2, and Osceola, Manila, Walnut Ridge and Rivercrest from District 3.

Rural Special
Rural Special girls play the host team, Hillcrest (runner-up in District 3), Thursday at 4 p.m. Winner advances to the region semi-final Friday at 4 p.m., with the championship game set Saturday at 6 p.m.  NOTICE: schedule altered by weather conditions.

Other match-ups in 1A Region 2 are District 2 winner Norfork vs. Marked Tree, District 3 winner Mammoth Spring vs Viola, and West Side vs. Maynard.

Boys teams advancing to the 1A Region 2 tourney are West Side, ICC, Calico Rock and Concord from District 2, and Marked Tree, Ridgefield Christian, Mammoth Spring and Maynard from District 3.
