Mountain View Baseball Team Wins 13-3

The Mountain View Yellowjacket baseball team defeated the fellow 3A-2 conference member Tuckerman Bulldogs 13-3 in 6 innings with the run rule being applied.

For the ‘Jackets, senior lead-off hitter Drew Shelton got on base twice, being walked in the 4th, and hit by a pitch in the 6th. Senior Trevor Downs got on base in the 6th with an RBI walk. Senior R.J. Baker recorded 3 hits, 2 runs, and 1 RBI, on 5 at-bats, scoring the winning run with a single.

Sophomore Ladd Cook had a batting average of .750 with 3 hits, 2 runs, and 1 RBI on 4 at-bats. Senior Wyatt Thomas got on base once when he was hit by a pitch, eventually scoring on a hit by Cook.

Grady Pitcock batted 1.000 with 4 hits, 1 run, and 2 RBIs on 4 at bats. Freshman Ross Morrow was pinch runner for Pitcock, scoring a run. Senior Collin Johnson had a .500 batting average with 2 hits, 2 runs, and 1 RBI on 4 at-bats. Freshman Noah Davis got on base three times with 2 walks and 1 hit-by-pitch; he scored on all three base visits.

Daylen Jelks had a .750 batting average with 3 hits, 1 run, 3 RBIs, and 1 walk on 4 at-bats.

Pitcock pitched for Mountain View.

The ‘Jackets were scheduled for two home conference games this week – against Cave City Tuesday and Hoxie Friday – with another conference matchup at home against Salem April 9.
