Posted

The junior boy match-up between local rivals Rural Special and Timbo saw the closest score of the evening Dec. 10 with the Rebels hosting. The game came down to the final seconds when Timbo stole the ball and tied the score at 38. Rural Special scrambled for a scoring opportunity and Kamrin Kennedy was fouled on the attempt. He went to the freethrow line with 1.5 seconds on the clock and sank both freethrows.

Timbo called time-out then ran an out-of-bounds play with Cole Avey attempting a long pass downcourt, but it was picked off by Rural Special’s Tucker Taylor and the junior Rebels won 40-38.

Taylor led all scorers with 20 points, while Kennedy and Brentley Davis each scored 9.

For Timbo, Cole Avey scored 14 points, while Dakota Meeker hit three treys in the first period as part of his 11-point total.

The Rural Special senior girls had their way with the Lady Tigers, winning 59-31 after jumping out to a 31-7 first-quarter lead.

For Rural Special, Aubrey Linville scored 10 points, while Rieley Sutterfield and Kylie Ross each hit three treys for 9 points apiece, and Bellah Kirby added 8.
Timbo got 7 points each from Kaylee Baker and Kelsey Chisholm, and 6 points each from Aleah Chisholm and Mallory Mosley.

The senior boy teams were well-matched with both inside and outside scoring threats, quickness in the point guard position, and gritty defense. The Tigers pulled out a 56-43 win on the road.

Wilkins led the Tigers with 16 points, while Pitcock tallied 13, Avey 12, Jelks 8 and Callahan 7. For Rural Special, Stevens scored 16, Watts 13 and Cooper and Rushing, 7 each.
