The 6th Mountain View Iris Festival was not without weather challenges, with rainy periods and a storm mid-day Saturday, but organizer Karen Avey is thankful for the support of the community and the understanding of participants as plans were modified.
The Iris Show and Photo Contest took place indoors as planned, with host Mountain View Meeting Place filled with fragrant blooms and colorful photos. Visitors provided People’s Choice voting with the following results: Iris Show – Brenda David, first; Anna Fulks, second; and Aubrey Kennon, third. Iris Photo Contest – Ashley Cullen, first; and Michelle Kulish, second and third. See photos on page 8A.
More than 30 members from two different organizations for pipe organ enthusiasts traveled from as far away as Minnesota and Wisconsin to demonstrate various models, sometimes accompanied by others playing accordians.
