UPDATED SEPT. 13
The attempt by organizers of Mountains Music and Motorcycles to avoid the worst of the summer heat by shifting to September may have backfired this year (the weekend forecast appears to be nearly as hot as in mid-August) but they are hopeful the plan will pay off in future years. The family friendly festival is scheduled Friday and Saturday in downtown Mountain View.
Events include the longstanding shows and games that have been core attractions, along with newer activities such as arm wrestling, tattoo contest and mini-trike races.
Registration for Friday’s poker run opens at 8 a.m., and vendors will be open by 9. The day’s kick-off ceremony is at 9:30 a.m.
Mini-trike races will begin at 10 a.m., as will chicken bingo (make a wager on which square gets the first droppings), and the poker run. A cornhole tournament begins at 11 a.m.
Live music begins at 2:30 p.m. with Jude Brawner on the courthouse stage.
More sessions of chicken bingo are set for 1 and 4 p.m., and a pie eating contest will take place at 3 p.m. A tattoo contest with categories of Color, Black/Grey, Sleeve and Crowd Favorite is scheduled for 4 p.m.
Friday’s Loudest Pipes Contest will be held at 4:30, with Biker Games at 5 p.m.
A water balloon fight rounds out the day’s fun.
More live music begins at 6:30 p.m. with sets by Brewster & Company followed by Cliff & Susan.
Saturday features the annual Car Show at Centennial Bank from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the Bike/Trike Show along Main Street from 9 a.m. to noon. The bike show will have categories for Custom, Vintage, Street, and Trike.
Vendors open at 9 a.m., Saturday, and the day’s kickoff ceremony is set for 9:30 a.m. on the courthouse stage.
Saturday’s Poker Run begins at 10 a.m. with return time at 4 p.m.
An arm wrestling challenge is set for 10 a.m., and Loudest Pipes competition at 11, followed by mini-trike races at noon.
Boone takes the stage for live music at 12:30 p.m., and Scott and Roni will perform at 3 p.m.
More sessions of chicken bingo are set at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Another round of biker games (weenie bite, plank and slow ride) begins at 2 p.m., and there will be a pepper eating contest at 3.
A stunt show by 12 O’clock Shop will be staged at 5 p.m. on Main Street.
There will be a group photo shoot at 5:30 p.m., and a beard contest at 6 p.m.
Evening music – Red 21 at 6:30 and Bad Habit at 8:30 p.m. – will conclude official events.
Preliminary plans to wrap up the weekend with a biker breakfast and church service have been scrapped and, instead, attendees will be provided a list of local churches for their consideration.
Next year’s dates have been announced as Sept. 17-18, 2027.
