Yellowjackets Crush Mohawks 43-8

Senior running back Drew Isbell scored three touchdowns and rushed for 203 yards at Piggott Sept. 20 as the Mountain View Yellowjackets crushed the Piggott Mohawks 43-8.

The Mohawks received to open, but were forced to punt. Drew Isbell made a 27-yard run for Mountain View, then two plays later made a 33-yard touchdown run. Kyle Corners kicked the extra point for a 7-0 lead.

Jesse Warden caused a Piggott fumble which senior Rush Sullivan picked up and raced 55 yards for a touchdown, Corners’ kick made it 14-0.

In the second quarter, Drew Isbell ran 67 yards for another touchdown. The extra-point kick was blocked. Junior Brayden Clark scored on a 2-yard run after a 61-yard Mountain View drive. A 2-point conversion attempt failed for a 26-0 score.

The Yellowjackets tacked on another TD with 1:01 left in the first half when Ladd Cook passed to Kyle Corners in the end zone. Corners then kicked the extra point to close the first half up 33-0.

Drew Isbell made a 64-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Corner’s extra-point kick rounded the score to 40 and triggered the mercy rule.

A 31-yard field goal kick by Corners in the fourth quarter upped it to 43.

The Mohawks got on the scoreboard with an 8-yard TD pass followed by a conversion for the final score of 43-8.
Mountain View had 318 yards total offense compared to 165 yards for Piggott.

Drew Isbell ran eight times for 203 yards and three touchdowns. Kyle Corners rushed for 14 yards and made two pass receptions for 21 yards. Ladd Cook rushed for 14 yards and 40 yards pass receiving. Tyler Newton caught two passes for three yards and Jesse Warden ran three times for 10 yards. Noah Davis rushed twice for five yards. Cole Gray made one reception for 10 yards, and Brayden Clark rushed for 14 yards and one touchdown.

Hayden Long completed 6 of 6 passes for 69 yards and Ladd Cook passed once for 5 yards and a touchdown.

On defense, Jesse Warden made 13 tackles and one sack. Rush Sullivan made 10 tackles, one fumble recovery, one sack and one defensive touchdown. Noah Davis made seven tackles, Kaden Mannon made six tackles, Blake Marsolf made six tackles and one fumble recovery, Roman Day made five tackles, Quniley Whitaker made four tackles, Logan Hockenberry made four tackles, and Kyle Corners made two tackles and one pass interception.
