Current School Employees Not Affected

Decision on janitorial service affects only new hires

Posted

Mountain View School Board hired an outside company to provide janitorial service on a limited basis, but they made it clear no current school district employees will lose their jobs or be transferred to the new company.

The board acted on the issue during its regular meeting May 17 at the Timbo campus. The company, SG360, will take over custodial work only in the Mountain View Elementary buildings.

As of last week, the district had no current employees assigned to those buildings.

New staff for the elementary school will be hired by the company.
“The only people going with the company are those they will hire starting out,” Board President Matt Dearien said, in response to questions from the audience about staff taking cuts to pay and benefits.

“All current custodians were rehired by the Mountain View School District,” Dearien explained. “The only people outsourced are the vacant positions.”
