Farmer's Market Meeting Well Attended

Nearly 20 potential vendors attended a public meeting last week to discuss organizing a farmer’s market in Mountain View.

Extension agent Tyler Caston and prospective vendor TIm Dryden introduced major topics that need to be addressed and the group plans to meet again April 12 to continue discussion of how a market would be structured.

Dryden said he anticipated having a series of meetings before the first market could be held.

A farmer’s market operating in recent years had become less active and residents are expressing interest in it again after a couple rough years, Caston explained.

Dryden, who moved to the area last year, has been doing background work and helped organize the initial meeting. He said the turnout of about 45 people was more than he expected, which is great.
Dryden distributed copies of rules from another market as an example, along with health department regulations and livestock regulations that would be applicable.

He introduced topics of why, who, what, where and when to guide discussion.
