A celebration of America 250 is planned for July 4th in Mountain View, beginning with a parade on Main Street at 10 a.m.

At 11 a.m., the Stone County Historical Society will present a program of music, recognition of revolutionary descendants, patriotic selections by the Mountain View High School Band ensemble, dedication of a Liberty Tree, special music by elementary students, a patriotic salute to The Declaration of Independence, and a flag retirement ceremony.

As always, local businesses are sponsoring events on the courthouse square, At midday, there will be fun on the courthouse square with a photo booth and craft activities, along with hot dogs, cold watermelon, popsicles and ice cream.
The fireworks display will take place at the recreation center at dark.

Arkansas Craft School will offer an Independence Day Mini Loom Weaving Make-and-Take Craft.

There will be free admission at the public swimming pool courtesy of the City of Mountain View. The pool is located on North Knox Avenue at the recreation center in Mountain View. The pool opens at noon on Saturdays. Phone 870-269-8400.

The Ozark Folk Center State Park will commemorate the holiday with a reading of the Declaration of Independence on Saturday at noon and again at 1 p.m. Almost every Arkansas State Park is hosting a similar program that day, so visitors can enjoy the special feeling of being part of a state- and nation-wide event. It will take place at noon at the Schoolhouse in the Crafts Village. Regular admission applies.

The Fox Community Center and Park is holding its July 4th celebration at the Fun Park Saturday beginning with a bicycle parade at 5:30 p.m., turtle races at 6, and pie contest at 6. Music Roots students will perform at 6:45 followed by Lucky Draw Band at 7. Fireworks will be set off at dark.
Concessions will include pulled pork plates, ice cream, popcorn, nachos and drinks.

The town of Fifty Six will have a fireworks display at dark on Saturday, courtesy of the fire department. The Fifty Six Auxiliary will offer food and drinks beginning at 6. This will take place at the city park off Roasting Ear Road.

Fireworks at Jack’s Resort at Allison will be set off Saturday at 10 p.m.

Flatwoods Baptist Church on Highway 14 East in Mountain View will hold its Freedom Celebration Sunday beginning at 8 p.m. The event will include games and ice cream, with live music by Greer Company prior to the fireworks display.
