Motorcyclists Gather For Event

A noticeably smaller crowd than in some years gathered for the 2021 Mountains Music & Motorcycles event in Mountain View last weekend. Attendees braved a rain threat Saturday morning and the weather cleared after a few sprinkles.

The day was hot and muggy as participants ventured out for poker runs, cruised the highways, and visited vendor booths. Though there was not an official bike show this year, there was a variety to see among those parked around the courtsquare.

Nearly a dozen candidates took stage to vie for best beard and mustache. John Morrow of Pennsylvania, who is a part-time local resident, won with a full beard worked into giant curls. James Dandridge of Mountain View was awarded for best mustache.

Several teams competed in a cornhole tournament using multiple boards set up on the courtsquare.

Mountain View Classic Cruizers held the club’s annual car show at Centennial Bank, with a 1950 Ford Custom Convertible voted People’s Choice and recipient of the Chamber of Commerce price money. Sponsors picks were a 1972 GMC Jimmy entered by Jeffery Johnson (Parsons Valero), a 1966 Ford Fairlane 500 entered by Richard and Cathie Ammons (Meadows Ford), a 1923 Ford T-Bucket entered by Dale Mifflin (Tinks Body Shop), a 1965 Ford Mustang entered by Fred and Kathie Rader (Affordable Car Care), a 1909 Ford T-Bucket entered by Robert Powell (Fowler’s Landing), the 1950 Ford Custom Convertible (TD Home Center), a 1968 Chevrolet S-10 entered by Jeff Johnson (Mountain View Chevrolet), and a 1941 Chevrolet Coupe entered by Tommy Slaughter (Clean-Pro).

Volkswagons, Corvettes, Ram trucks and other entries such as an El Camino 454 SS, a Jeep CJ5 and a Ford Thunderbird convertible and many more were on display.

Two evenings of live music entertained the crowd in an outdoor setting. The Josh Parks Band took the stage Friday night, and Saturday featured the Eddie Haskell Project and the Melodikats.

Events concluded Sunday morning with a biker breakfast and Blessing of the Bikes.
