Tree Lighting is Saturday

Posted

Residents and visitors are invited to attend the old-fashioned Christmas on the Square event Saturday in Mountain View.

Events beginning at noon include decorating the living tree, stories and music, a live nativity, Christmas parade and a visit from Santa.

Everyone is welcome to help decorate the tree this year by filling out the provided tags with a prayer, wish or “in memory” message.

There will be music by The Thompkins Family at 1 p.m., a sing-along segment with David and Renee Wright at 2 p.m., and a session of “Story Time with Rachel” at 3 p.m.

Timbo Assembly of God Church will present a Live Nativity in the courtsquare gazebo from 4 to 8 p.m.

The parade will begin at 4 p.m. on Main Street, followed by the tree lighting program at 5. The Mountain View High School Choir directed by Chuck Hughes will entertain and the event will conclude with a visit from Santa.

Stone County Medical Center Auxiliary members will be set up with their usual hot chocolate and goodies for donations just across Main Street from the courthouse.
