Truck Overturns on Highway 263 Curve

Posted

A semi-truck driver and his teenaged daughter were injured Tuesday morning (Feb. 17) when the truck rolled in the sharp curve of Highway 263 on Fox/Timbo Mountain.

Stone County Sheriff Brandon Long said the truck’s load of palleted peat moss and mulch shifted as the driver attempted to negotiate the curve and he lost control. The truck went into the guard rail and eventually rolled over before coming to rest upside down at the edge of the pavement.

The incident resulted in closure of the highway most of the day. As of 3:15 p.m., emergency responders at the scene estimated it might be cleared by 4 p.m.
Both occupants of the truck were transported for medical care after being extracted from the truck’s cab. Long said no injuries were believed to be life-threatening.

“They’re both very, very lucky,” Long commented.

No other vehicles were involved.

More details will be available in the next issue of the Leader.
