Posted
Rescue personnel work to evacuate a burn victim from the roof.

Two employees of Fiber Energy Products were seriously injured in a fire at the plant in Stone County’s industrial park last Friday afternoon.

Paul David Sutterfield and Sean Steiger were both airlifted from the site after they went to the factory’s roof and opened a hatch, which resulted in an explosion as flames were exposed to air. Sutterfield is being treated in Memphis and Steiger is at Arkansas Children’s Burn Unit in Little Rock.

The fire was reported at 4:22 and fire fighters from Mountain View and Timbo volunteer fire departments remained on scene until after 7:30 p.m. A total of 29 firefighters and eight trucks responded. Timbo volunteer and Entergy employee

Eric Mitchell saw the smoke and responded in a bucket truck, which was used to lower victims from the building’s roof.

The fire is being investigated by the Arkansas State Police.
